    With a carbon footprint now equal to the aviation industry, ICT, and how businesses utilise ICT, are increasingly coming under the spotlight as governments seek to achieve carbon-cutting commitments.

    Eco Web Hosting aims to counter this trend by offering individuals and companies a carbon-positive web hosting service.

    Carbon offsetting

    We have teamed up with Ransom Wood Business Park in Nottinghamshire to plant trees to offset our carbon footprint.

    To date we have planted over 300 English Oak trees, which at present absorb more than three times the carbon produced by our servers.

    Eco-friendly servers

    We use Dell servers which comes in bamboo packaging. Bamboo grows at a much quicker rate than most trees meaning they can be replenished quickly and less demanding on the environment.

    Dell servers have power supplies certified 80 Plus meaning PSUs waste 20% or less electric energy as heat at the specified load levels compared to less efficient PSUs.

    Along with high efficiency Intel fans and processors, our servers only draw power they need to reduce the total watts per server. Managed power systems ensures idle hardware does not consume resources that are not required.

    The data centre uses cold aisle containment systems by completely separating hot and cold air flows, cooling efficiency is improved by up to 40%, reducing the environmental footprint of our services.
